- In a large saucepan, pour whole milk, water, salt, and pepper and bring to a boil.

- Microwave or skillet-cook bacon to desired crispiness, then crumble into bits.
- Turn off heat and top grits with butter, bacon, cheddar cheese, and jalapeño slices.
