Spinach Turnovers Recipe

Ingredients

  1. 3 Green onions, chopped
  2. 2 Garlic cloves
  3. 1/2 tsp Rosemary
  4. 1/2 tsp Thyme
  5. 1/4 tsp Kosher salt
  6. 1/4 tsp Kosher pepper
  7. 1 T Vegetable oil
  8. 1/4 C Shawnee Mills Brown Gravy Mix
  9. 1 Egg
  10. 1/2 C Mozzarella cheese
  11. 1 package Puff pastry, thawed
  12. 1 package Frozen spinach, thawed

Life has been made easier by many hand-held conveniences, such as ice cream cones and smartphones. Now, we have Spinach Turnovers. These little hand-held pastry pods of tastiness pack a mouthful of flavor and are easy to eat as a perfectly portable snack on the go.

Directions:

 Preheat oven to 375

  1. Thaw and squeeze-dry spinach to remove excess water.
  2. In a small pot, prepare Shawnee Mills Brown Gravy Mix according to package directions.
  3. In a skillet,  heat vegetable oil and sauté green onion, spinach, garlic, rosemary, thyme, salt, and pepper until onions are translucent.
  4. Turn off heat and stir in mozzarella and ¼ cup of Shawnee Mills Brown Gravy Mix. 
  5. Unfold puff pastry and cut each sheet into 4 squares.
  6. Scoop a tablespoon and a half of mixture in skillet into each puff pastry square and fold over into a triangle. 
  7. To seal each turnover, press a fork along the opening. 
  8. Whisk egg, then brush over each turnover for a crispier crust. 
  9. Spray nonstick cooking spray on a 18 by 13 in cookie sheet pan.
  10. Place each turnover on pan and place in the oven for 20 minutes. 
  11. Let cool for 5-7 minutes.
